Questions about Joining the Corps
- How much does it cost?
Dues each quarter are $25.00.
How old do I have to be to join?
- To be a member of the Corps you must be at least 7 years old. You may remain in the Corps until you are 21.
How do I join the corps?
- Come visit the Corps on a Wednesday nights between 6:30pm to 8:30 pm at the Hamner school in Wethersfield. An informational packet will be provided when first visit.
Do you have to make every practice?
- No, however we encourage everyone to come as much as possible since practice is crucial to good performances. We do understand though the other activities may conflict.
How will I know what is going on?
- Calendars are given out at practices and posted on our website. In addition, before each event, you are given a detailed sheet about the event.
Do I need to know how to play an instrument before I join?
- No. We will teach you everything you need to know.
Can my parents join me on the corps trips?
- Yes. Parents and Guardians are always welcomed to join us at any time during practices or at any event
How do I learn how to march?
- You will receive instructions on the proper marching steps.
Do you have any rules?
- Yes. Every group has its own set of rules that all must follow. We do too. You will be given a rulebook that is to be followed. It is very simple - proper behavior is expected at all times.
Is it hard to march in a parade?
- Some members find it more difficult to march in parades. The first time might be scary but it is easy after you do it once.
Do I need to buy anything to join?
- Yes, we may ask you buy marching shoes..
How do I learn my music?
- Your instructor will teach you all that you need to know. Plan to practice at least 15 minutes a day. Once you can play a limited repitoire you will play in parades.
